R. C. Services

Magnifying Editing and Proofreading

Introduction to services

Welcome to R. C. Services will provide two services that is editing and proofreading. R. C. Services is just starting out and because of it you as a client is wondering this first question - Why would you want an inexperienced editor or proofreader?

Magnifying Editing and Proofreading is R. C. Services mission statement.

Of course, you may have heard many reasons and we may go over some of these details. However, R. C. Services will promise one thing above all else, editing and proofreading is guaranteed by a certificate of an reputable educational institution, an in-depth approach like a detective with a magnifying glass, making suggestions and lastly trying not to change your manuscript for your short story.
Clear, concise and simple. R. C. Services is starting out small with short stories and gradually will grow to novellas, novelettes and novels. We made sure that a simple service agreement between us that is editor/proofreader and client for editing/proofreading is done differently to other such service providers - also a repayment plan is needed to be agreed on. Know this before hand might be of use to clients wanting our services - clear, concise and simple.

We consider Editing Services and Proofreading Services as two different services which incorporates editing and proofreading as in different stages. When editing a short story or manuscript here we use these - read the story, edit the story, proofread the story and make suggestions. When proofreading a print-out here we look for - need original and/or final draft of manuscript or short story to proofread to make sure of the changes made, printing ink is legible, editing and changes if needed*this for the printers. Note:- nowadays, it is easily done on computers.

What are the costs for such services? Mainly the costs is reasonable and with a fortnightly repayment plan. The reason for this is it does get expensive - that is looking at over 2400 plus dollars... Here we work a reasonable and below rate of payments. Here an hourly rate is not given because the editor finds it offensive where as an author gets paid by the word-count. We only charge up to 7500 words per fortnight.

For some examples:

Option A: 0.01 at 7500 words is equal to 75.00.

Option B: 0.02 at 7500 words is equal to 150.00.

Option C: 0.022 at 7500 words is equal to 165.00.

Does this seem to be too low or a gimmick? No gimmick at all.

Yes it is low for a few reasons:

1. Start at a short story size is manageable for a fortnight.

2. It is low at a cost level because the editor and proofreader felt there was no place for those authors who can't afford such services.

3. When R. C. Services decides to go to the next step of novellas, novels and etc., it is dependent on the amount of work load the editor or proofreader is prepared to take on.

From the above examples with option A to C; the cost option R. C. Services decided on, doing for these services is the cost effective for both parties - Option B. This option is the average of the there and since a fortnight is involved - evens out - if we mention that those options are named as followed; assessment, editing and proofreading. Please be aware that each financial year the cost price will rise. One cost price is easier and it encompasses everything that we do overall.

R. C. Services will provide a service with no tax at all however, there is discount vouchers available with all services. These vouchers have a time-limit on some of them and others will be available when we decide those vouchers to be used. Each voucher have a dollar value off the cost price - these values start at $25 to $50 off.

Before the editor or proofreader takes you on as a client, there is an assessment that must done. This assessment is done with the following two criteria; one, following the instructions that is coming below and two, how your short story is submitted.
